Collboni reproaches Colau for "giving lessons in progressivism without having won the elections"

The PSC candidate in the Barcelona municipal elections, Jaume Collboni, has reproached the mayor of the Barcelona City Council, Ada Colau, for giving "lessons in progressivism" when "she is mayor without having won the elections and thanks to the vote of center right". She has criticized him in this way at an event in the European Parliament in Brussels in which she has presented her pre-campaign with the aim of reinforcing the foreign role of the Catalan capital.

Collboni has responded to Colau in this way after the current mayoress has criticized this Tuesday that the socialist candidate “dissociates himself” from the work done in the City Council and that he “approaches the theses” of the Junts candidate, Xavier Trias. "If he follows this path, we could imagine him as Mr. Trias' number two," Colau criticized. She, too, has lamented the "drift" of Collboni, in her opinion, away from a "progressive and left-wing city" such as Barcelona.

"My answer will be, every time they talk to me about pacts, 'program, program and program'. I say this because Mrs. Colau gives lessons in progressivism and is mayor without having won the elections and thanks to the vote of the center-right of Mr. Valls" , Collboni pointed out, after an act at the Eurocamara in which he defended the “international program” for the city of Barcelona.

Likewise, Collboni has added that there should be "containment when making statements." "These statements catch me working, in Brussels, on a pre-campaign day when I am making proposals, I am setting the ideas and purposes that I have as the new mayor if I am elected, I do not decide to make statements and counter-statements." He has thus criticized that in recent years there has been "a stage of clamorous absences from the city at an institutional level" and that he wants to change it.

The socialist candidate for mayor has pointed out that his proposal involves "reinforcing the role of Barcelona, exercising its capital status", the geopolitical role of the city in the Euro-Mediterranean region and "putting at the service" of the inhabitants the resources and projects in favor of of the ecological and technological transition.

On this last point, he has defended the expansion of the Prat-Josep Tarradelles Airport. "Confronting economic growth and ecological transition is a debate that leads nowhere", he has assured that among the main points for decarbonisation is "the decrease in short flights", but what it is about is that the airport be "more connectable transcontinentally over all of Asia and the United States”. “It has to be compatible with the ecological transition, otherwise we are running into a dead end”, he assured.

Likewise, it has marked its position on the future of the superblocks in Barcelona's Eixample. "We defend what is most natural, logical and organically possible (...) we want to recover the interiors of the blocks as gardens." For Collboni it is the way to "not be invasive" or "force mobility". "You have to pacify the streets, but do it well," he assured.
