Collboni receives the support of the former socialist mayors: "We will return"

The mayor of the PSC in Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, received this Saturday the support of the former socialist mayors of the city Narcís Serra, Joan Clos and Jordi Hereu, who have sworn with a "volveremos" so that the party regains control of the city after a "parenthesis" of 12 years.

In an act at the Museu Olímpic i de l'Esport organized by Bo per Barcelona, the support platform for Collboni's candidacy, the three former mayors and the candidate have reviewed and vindicated the government work of the PSC at the head of the consistory, some allegations in which the figure of the missing former socialist mayor, Pasqual Maragall, who has been mentioned and praised on a dozen occasions, has been very present.

"Curiously, when many other candidates talk about Barcelona being Barcelona again. Do you know what Barcelona they are talking about? About the Barcelona that these mayors made possible. They are the benchmarks. I am very amused. If you want to recover the best Barcelona vote for the PSC," Collboni emphasized. During the colloquium, the former mayors recalled their experience at the head of the consistory.

From the financial problems and the inexperience of the first years, and the vision of hosting the Olympic Games to contribute to the transformation of the city, from Serra's stage, to the "Barcelona of the neighbourhoods" of Hereu, going through the urban projects from Clos, like 22@.

In all the interventions he has flown over the figure of Maragall, who has been especially remembered by Serra. "With Pasqual we would have the socialist quintet, with him this debate would be much better", pointed out the first socialist mayor of Barcelona, who recalled that, of the leaders of his generation, "the most prepared was Pasqual, because he had been in the programming service of the town hall and knew inside its virtues and defects. The rest of us had to learn the discipline of managing".

For his part, Clos has been in charge of vindicating the "well done, transparent and fair" urbanism that was promoted from the consistory. Hereu, whom Collboni has praised for promoting "the city of 15 minutes" during his term, has highlighted the proximity policies and the extensive deployment of municipal facilities that he carried out in his years in government.

In this sense, he has sent a dart to the Commons: "In the neighborhoods is where slogans die. It is where demagogy and populism die. It is where people know the number of keys to specific floors that you have given to specific people. When we go to the neighborhoods, people remember," he asserted.

The colloquium between the mayors ended with applause from a standing audience, and Serra's enthusiastic and spontaneous slogan: "We'll be back."

After the talk with the former mayors, Collboni made a brief speech, in which he called for "opening a new phase that closes the parenthesis" of 12 years without a socialist mayor.

The candidate took the opportunity to address a few words to the mayoress of Barcelona, Ada Colau: "Let no one give the PSC lessons in progressivism or transforming left-wing policies."

He has also charged against the JxCat candidate, Xavier Trias, whom he has once again accused of "hiding the initials", insisting that he is a pro-independence party and belongs to the party of former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont and the suspended president of Parliament, Laura Borràs.
