Celebrities with place names repeat play with their children

Ireland Baldwin and Paris Hilton have been so happy that their given names have been a country and a city, respectively, that they have not hesitated to repeat the play with their children. The first, model and daughter of actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Bassinger, is about to give birth to a girl who already has a name: Holland. The second, businesswoman, designer, DJ and great-granddaughter of the founder of the Hilton hotel chain, welcomed her first child in January, the result of surrogacy, whom she has named Phoenix.

Another case, this one closer, is that of the daughter of Emilio Aragón, Iciar, who has chosen for her fourth daughter the name of Cuba, the birthplace of her great-grandfather, the clown Miliki, and the girl's grandfather.

Calling yourself after a city, country or continent has ceased to be a fashion to become quite common. Ginebra is the six-year-old daughter of Alessandro Lequio and María Palacios; Rome, that of Risto Mejide and Laura Escanes; Cairo, the son of Eudardo Cruz, Penelope's brother; Siena, the third daughter of Andrés Iniesta and Anna Ortiz; and Capri, the second daughter of Cesc Fábregas and Daniella Seeman.

In the United States, prominent celebrities are named after places. This is the case of Winona Ryder, which is named after a city in Minnesota; actress Dakota Johnson, daughter Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson; or the son named Tennessee of Reese Witherspoon.

Chicago is the name of the third daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, born from a surrogate. After naming her eldest daughter North and Saint her second, they chose for the third the name of the city where the rapper grew up.

The place of conception has marked many proper names. Actress Bryce Dallas Howard, daughter of director Ron Howard and his wife Cheryl, is called that because she was conceived in the famous Texas city. She is also called Paris because the daughter Michael Jackson had with nurse Debbie Rowe was conceived in that city. Former soccer player David Beckham and his wife, the former spice girl Victoria, called the eldest of his children Brooklyn, because apparently the little one was conceived in that New York neighborhood.

The Spanish Elsa Pataky and her husband, Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, chose the name India for their eldest daughter. "I wanted to put Indiana Jones on it, but it didn't look too good for a girl, so we preferred the short version," the Thor interpreter joked in an interview.

The eldest child Alicia Keys and her husband, Swizz Beatz, is called Egypt. The reason is that the artist had made a trip through that country that changed her life shortly before her birth. Mariah Carey and Nick Canon named one of her twins Moroccan. More veterans are Asia Argento, Sienna Miller, Florence Pugh, Cuba Gooding jr, Orlando Bloom...

This trend of choosing place names began long before the series Money Heist became fashionable with its Tokyo, Nairobi, Helsinki or Rio. If not tell Alaska that, born Olvido Gara, she chose that stage name taking it from a Lou Reed song.
