Catalan cinema dresses up for the 2024 Gaudí Awards

This Sunday, February 4, the gala of the XVI edition of the Gaudí Awards will be held at the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB), starting at 10.05 p.m. The Catalan Cinema Academy will award the best films of 2023 distributed in 25 categories plus the Honor-Miquel Porter Gaudí Award 2024, which has been won by the filmmaker Rosa Vergès, a "pioneer and key in the revival of Spanish cinema in the 90s" .

For the fourth consecutive year in its sixteen-year history, there is a majority presence of female finalists, a noted trend that continues to rise with 57% compared to 43% of men this year.

Regarding the news of this edition, the ceremony has new presenters: comedians Maria Rovira (Oye Sherman) and Ana Polo, creators of the Oye Polo podcast, will be in charge of writing and hosting the gala. Before, like every year, nominees and presenters will walk the Gaudí red carpet. A total of 1,400 guests will gather in the Barcelona auditorium.

As usual, the gala will also feature musical performances. One of the protagonists will be Guillem Gisbert, vocalist of Manel, who will present for the first time Un home realitzat.
