Casa Condeminas, the modernism of Barcelona facing the sea

Casa Condeminas offers all the comforts of the 21st century in a modernist building with more than 100 years of history. Iron wrought iron, stained glass windows, unique hydraulic floors, carved wood, all original, today combined with modern construction technologies and the most current equipment. The modernism that characterizes the building is also present in the interior windows with leaded glass, and in the ceilings with cornices and rose windows.

The floors of the living rooms, dining rooms and halls have been designed recovering the original mosaic flooring of Nolla pieces, introduced in Spain in the mid-19th century by the Catalan businessman Miquel Nolla, and made up of small stoneware tiles that form complex and beautiful compositions.

The interior of the homes has been restored strictly following heritage conservation criteria, rationalizing their interior distribution. The decoration features neutral colors and noble materials, which enhance the interior spaces to the maximum.

The three-bedroom homes of 187 m2 face Passeig de Colom. The sun and light filters in all day through its large balconies, whose views range from Montjuic Mountain to Barceloneta, passing through the entire port of the city. For their part, the two-bedroom homes of 90 m2 that face Calle de la Mercé, allow great flexibility and adaptability to the needs of the residents. For example, rooms can be joined together to create a larger, more open space.

The two penthouses of Casa Condeminas have a private terrace of about 60 m2 that overlooks Mercé Street, from which you can see an elevated panoramic view of Barcelona and the nearby domes of the Basilica de la Mercè and the Post Office building. . A modernist luxury on the seashore, ideal for living and for investors looking for assets that gain value over time.

In addition, on the roof of the building there is a swimming pool for all residents, with a chill-out area with Balinese beds and hammocks with spectacular views over the maritime area of Barcelona.

Uniq Residential, a company specialized in the promotion of high-quality residential buildings, has been responsible for the rehabilitation of Casa Condeminas. Respect for the original artistic heritage of the building, which has been classified as a Cultural Asset of Local Interest, has guided everything the process.

The modernist elements of the entrance hall, for example, which have been maintained and restored according to their original image date back to 1902. Of note is the concierge's booth carved in wood with ornamentation with floral motifs, and two wrought iron and leaded glass lamps, originals of the estate, which flank the entrance of the building. The corridor that gives access to the elevator also preserves many decorative elements: curved and straight lines coexist in harmony and show the beauty, diversity and decorative intensity that characterizes modernism.

The modernist style stands out for being inspired by nature and profusely using elements of natural origin, especially plants and rounded shapes of organic origin. In Casa Condeminas, the sea inspired its “birth”, being the great influence that marked the building from its beginnings and continues to be the protagonist in the construction.

At the beginning of the 20th century, once the sea wall of Barcelona was demolished, the Centro de Navieros Aseguradores company commissioned the architect Josep Pujol i Brull to build a house in which to locate its main offices. These were installed on the main floor, which was later occupied by the Condeminas maritime agency, from which the building took its name. The house is located on the seafront, in front of the Barcelona marina, the Real Club Náutico, a key reference point in Mediterranean yachting with 140 years of history, and the Port Vell Marina, a first-class marina for superyachts. with a privileged location in the heart of the city. With these origins, Casa Condeminas is the most maritime modernist building in Barcelona. The views from the House, including the iconic silhouette of Montjuïc Mountain, are unique in the entire city.

Built on Paseo de Colom, a nerve center of the city, the House is very close to Las Ramblas and its references in social and cultural life, such as the Teatre del Liceu, a world-class opera institution.
