Candela López will replace Lilith Verstrynge in Congress and Sumar will gain a deputy

The coordinator of Catalunya En Comú, Candela López, will replace in Congress the former organizational secretary of Podemos Lilith Verstrynge, who left her minutes this Friday, so Sumar will gain a deputy in the lower house.

It was announced this Saturday by the co-ordinator of Catalunya En Comú, Jéssica Albiach, in her intervention before the assembly of the communes in Baix Llobregat, held in Cornellà de Llobregat: "It's an honor to walk by your side, Candela. I know you'll do a great job exceptional as you make it everywhere".

Candela López was mayor of Castelldefels. Chosen in 2015, she was the first woman and the youngest person from the town of Baix Llobregat to hold this position. Born in 1985 in Lomas de Zamora, a municipality in the Argentine province of Buenos Aires, she was also the first immigrant to become mayor.

In 2017 he passed the baton to the socialist María Miranda. Thus, a government pact that consisted of four parties was fulfilled and that managed to snatch the mayor's office from the popular Manu Reyes, who has now regained it.

The Podemos deputy and Secretary of Organization of the party, Lilith Verstrynge, announced this Friday that she was leaving her political responsibilities and also her seat, although the doubt remained whether López, who occupied the next position on the list, would end up taking the record.

With the arrival of Candela López, who is among the hundred promoters of Sumar for the founding assembly to be held in March and started her political activism in the Initiative for Catalunya Verds (ICV), Yolanda Díaz will gain one more deputy among her ranks, while Podemos will lose a representative in Congress.
