Gov. Gavin Newsom is running in California for reelection, but his most recent television advertisement is in Florida.
Fox News' 30-second spot will air starting Monday and features a shot at Florida Governor. Ron DeSantis's policies are compared to California.
"Freedom is under attack in your state. Republican leaders are banning books, making voting harder, restricting speech and even criminalizing doctors and women," Newsom said, while images of DeSantis flash on the screen.
I urge everyone in Florida to get involved in the fight. Newsom states that California still believes in freedom, including freedom of speech, freedom of choice, freedom from hatred, and freedom to love.
Newsom said he does not intend to run for president but the ad will stoke speculation about whether the 54-year old Democrat wants to run for the national office. DeSantis, a potential GOP presidential candidate in 2024, is becoming more popular among Republicans.
Newsom repelled a recall attempt last yeild and is expected to win reelection in November.
