Bizum and card payment go down for the second time in six days

The Bizum digital payment systems and the credit card systems managed by Redsys crashed again late yesterday in a widespread manner, in an incident that lasted around an hour and was the second of its kind in just six days.

The failure in the payment system also occurs on the eve of Black Friday, which is when the Christmas consumer campaign begins. The logistics companies of the UNO association expect that 108 million packages will be moved this year, 6.8% more, while KPMG predicts that the average outlay per person until the January sales will be 727 euros.

At around 10:30 p.m. last night, Bizum reported on X that a new incident had occurred. "We are working on its solution, we keep you informed," he indicated.

An hour later, it announced on the same social network the restoration of the service after a "generalized incident in payment processing." Operations are "completely restored" and "from 11:25 p.m. it is possible to operate normally."

Bizum has also indicated that operations "will be automatically regularized in the next few hours." In last Saturday's incident, there were consumers who tried to do the bizum several times and were faced with several charges that the bank later corrected.

Redsys published a post on inconvenience caused".

The Bank of Spain is observing these problems in payment systems that it considers sensitive to the confidence of banking consumers. On Monday, its governor, Pablo Hernández de Cos, indicated at a meeting of the Association of Financial Markets (AMF) that the failures respond to operational problems and not to cyber attacks, and asked operators to improve 'back up' systems. to strengthen their platforms and avoid new falls.
