Yesterday, Binter inaugurated its flights in the Canary Islands-Madrid corridor in which it will operate a total of 16 daily and 112 weekly flights to the airports of Tenerife North and Gran Canaria, opening a new office, together with a new handling company, Drago. Handling, and a maintenance station.
To this end, the company has opened a new base in Madrid with "almost 200 workers" and has acquired five Embraer reactors, as reported in a statement and during its presentation.
In the capital of Spain, flights will take place from Terminal 2 of the Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas airport, with departure times to Tenerife that will be at 08:00, 12:30, 17:00 and 20:00. while in the opposite direction the flights from the Tenerife airport will be at 08:00, 11:00, 15:30 and 20:30 hours.
In the case of flights to Gran Canaria, the planes will depart at 7:00, 12:30, 17:00 and 20:00, and in the opposite direction, at 08:00, 10:00, 15:30 and 8:30 p.m.
In addition, these routes facilitate connections with the rest of the Canary Islands airports at no additional cost, thanks to the 210 flights carried out every day on average within the archipelago.
The airline estimates the investment in this new route "in hundreds of millions of euros." Specifically, it has been estimated in two series of about 450 million dollars (416 million euros), of which one has already been received and the second is expected by the end of the year.
On the other hand, the 'handling' service will be carried out through the new company Drago Handling, which is incorporated into the Canary Islands airline system, made up of 17 companies specialized in services related to each of the branches of the airline sector to offer a comprehensive service.
Thus, Drago Handling's team, made up of 75 professionals, will provide assistance, ramp handling and operations services exclusively to Binter flights and passengers with Madrid.
Likewise, the airline has opened the first Binter Vende airport office outside the Canary Islands, located on the upper floor (Departures) of Terminal 2 of Barajas Airport, near the north access door and the company's check-in counters. .
The opening hours will be from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., to attend to all the airline's operations, 365 days a year.
Another of Binter's decisions to strengthen its operations in Madrid is the opening of an online aircraft maintenance station, which will be managed by another of the companies in the Binter system: Servicios Aerotécnicos Insulares (SATI).
Therefore, a better service can be provided to Binter's Embraer E195-E2 fleet, serving aircraft based at the capital's airport. It will also enable a "faster" service to those aircraft that have incidents within the peninsular territory, since the location of the Madrid station will allow response times to be reduced in the event that maintenance of those aircraft is required at one of the airports where the airline operates.
This facility will initially be staffed with 25 people, including engineers, maintenance technicians and material managers, with plans to gradually add personnel until a team of 40 people is formed.
