The District of Ciutat Vella has notified 24 holders of terrace licenses in restaurant establishments of the non-automatic renewal of the license for 2024. These are establishments that each accumulate at least seven serious or very serious firm sanctions for the regulations of terraces and that, with this notification, they will not automatically obtain the license to install a terrace for their premises. Offending bars and restaurants will not be authorized to install terraces starting next January 1.

The non-automatic renewal of the license is a resource of the administration provided for in the terrace ordinance for those cases in which a sanctioning procedure has been initiated for repeated non-compliance with the conditions of the main or terrace license due to serious or serious misconduct. serious.

Last October, the district councilor, Albert Batlle, already announced that he would apply this mechanism to non-compliant premises as a result of the expiration of the files notified in the month of April in 30 terraces, which received 173 allegations.

Once notified of the start of the procedure to not automatically renew the 24 licenses to the holders, a period of allegations now opens that will end before the end of the year.
