Barcelona City Council will begin this weekend the actions to reorganize Aribau and Muntaner streets and create a service cordon (with parking spaces, loading and unloading areas and containers), which implies eliminating one of the four traffic lanes. of these streets between Diagonal Avenue and Gran Via.

This cordon will be located on the sidewalk on the Besòs side, in the case of Muntaner, and on the Llobregat side, in the case of Aribau, so that there will be two traffic lanes and one for public transport on both roads.

The tasks, which involve milling, painting and signaling work, will be carried out first on Muntaner Street this weekend and will involve the restriction of two traffic lanes, keeping one traffic lane and one bus lane in service at the open perpendicular intersections. .

Subsequently, work on this road will only be carried out during work days from January 15 to 26, the future service cordon will be affected and two traffic lanes and one bus lane will remain open, which will be the ones that will remain operational. with the final configuration.

This is an initiative voted and decided within the framework of the Participatory Budgets, with the name 'Prou autopistes a l'Esquerra de l'Eixample', which wants to expand the space for pedestrians on the sidewalks and reduce the circulation lanes for prioritize the health of the population.
