Barça sells its first NFT for $693,000

Barça is willing to find extraordinary income in any sector, including the new blockchain technology market, and in this sense it can already boast of having sold its first NFT (Non-Fungible Token) this past Friday for a large amount of money in the famous bookmaker Sotheby's in New York.

The digital work of art recreates the famous goal that the mythical Johan Cruyff scored against Atlético de Madrid on December 22, 1973 with an acrobatic shot in the air that surpassed goalkeeper Miguel Reina. That iconic maneuver, baptized as the "flying Dutchman", has now been immortalized in a piece entitled In a way, immortal.

After eight days of auction, first online and finally physically on July 29, the Blaugrana NFT has been sold to the highest bidder for $693,000. The buyer also receives several advantages from the Barça club and VIP experiences, as well as being distinguished as a Barça Digital Ambassador

The work in question has been carried out in collaboration with the Catalan company BCN Visuals and in principle it is the first of ten NFT's that the Catalan entity will develop with emblematic moments and characters in the history of Barça. A firm commitment to a booming market that already moves tens of billions.

The auction of Cruyff's image was advertised on one of the digital screens in New York's famous Times Square, in Manhattan, which was attended by the Barça players Pedri and Sergio Busquets, Vice President Rafa Yuste, President Joan Laporta and Jordi Cruyff, son of 'el flaco' and currently a member of the technical secretariat of the Barça team.

"I cried. I cried in those moments because I saw your father. Also, the phrase that says 'In a way, immortal'... I saw that he appeared and I was moved," President Laporta said in a conversation with Jordi Cruyff , declared a fan of Johan Cruyff and his personal friend before the death of the Dutchman on March 24, 2016.
