The archipelago has a good number of natural parks where you can breathe fresh air and enjoy the flora and fauna they house, and where you can also take advantage of the wide range of activities aimed at all types of public, which include, among other proposals, hiking, diving, cycling or cayac.

Spaces, flora and fauna that benefit from the special protection conferred by being part of Natura 2000, a European ecological network made up of areas of special conservation due to their environmental relevance and according to their representativeness, singularity, fragility or the interest of the elements or the natural systems they host. The Balearic Islands contribute to this network a total area of ​​222,424 hectares, between land and sea.

The initiative responds to the need to determine in which areas of the European territory it is essential to take measures that contribute to guaranteeing their biodiversity, within the European framework for the conservation of natural habitats and existing flora and fauna, taking into account economic requirements. , social and cultural of each territory.

These protected natural areas are classified into various figures based on the assets or values ​​they protect. They can be: national parks, natural parks, natural sites, nature reserves (integral or special), natural monuments, protected landscapes and places of scientific interest or micro-reserves.
