Badalona loses a subsidy of 460,000 euros intended to hire unemployed residents

New proof of the inefficiency of the administrative machinery of the Badalona City Council (Barcelonès Nord). The mayor, Xavier Garcia Albiol, has reported that the City Council has been forced to return a subsidy of 460,000 that was intended to hire unemployed residents because the procedures were not carried out within the required period, which ended on December 31, 2022. date on which, according to Albiol, “the previous government had not yet begun the administrative procedures” for the execution of the plan.

Albiol refers to the resignation of a benefit fund “Plans Locals d'Ocupació” from the Barcelona Provincial Council within the framework of the Cataleg 2022 call. In December 2021, the provincial entity approved the funds to hire people in situations of unemployment. unemployment, carry out training actions for the unemployed and help companies to hire unemployed people. For all this, 459,598.78 euros were granted to the Badalona City Council.

On May 27, 2022, the City Council issues a resolution in which it accepts the funds to provide assistance for labor recruitment. But recently, the head of the Servei Impuls Municipal de Promoció de l'Ocupació (IMPO) has issued a report in which she recognizes “that given the impossibility of meeting the legal deadlines of the administrative procedure” it is agreed, “given the lack of time to execute all actions” before the end of 2022, “give up the aid granted in its entirety” and repay the amount, with the corresponding interest, to the Barcelona Provincial Council.
