Arrested for robbing elderly people by posing as a light worker in Barcelona

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 62-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of various crimes of robbery against the elderly and home invasion. The four robberies attributed to him occurred between the months of March and April in the Sant Martí district.

The perpetrator always used the same modus operandi. He posed as an electrical company worker and told the victims that there was an incident, with the aim of being able to enter the home. Once at the home (even though he was against the will of the victims), he took the opportunity to steal valuable objects or money that he found. Once the robbery was carried out, he left without giving notice.

The investigations began with a complaint from those affected, which led the police to think that all the robberies were carried out by the same person as they were in the same district.

On April 11, a monitoring device was opened at 8:45 a.m. when the alleged perpetrator was located. At 9:45 a.m. he was seen entering a property on Rogent Street, taking advantage of the fact that it was open. The alleged thief was arrested red-handed after leaving the home and the victim recognized him as the fake electric company operator.

The detainee was brought to justice on April 13 and is charged with numerous criminal records for similar acts, including three crimes of robbery and two crimes of trespassing.
