Plaja has pointed out that the Government "would have liked" that the president of the Generalitat could have met with Obama, but that the meeting "could not take place" despite the "effort".

The spokeswoman has verified that the visit of the former US president to Barcelona was "private", on the occasion of the Bruce Springsteen concert in the Catalan capital. Plaja has also stressed that the Government made itself available to the US consulate and embassy in case "they needed anything".
