The electric mobility industry is driving up the activity of Elausa, a Vic company specialized in the manufacture of electronic components since 1988.

The company – controlled by Santiago Suñer, Salvador Casacuberta and Jaume Carné – has in recent years won projects for the Volkswagen group and its electric vehicle platform, in which the Cupra, Skoda and Volkswagen brands participate. “We are specialized in the manufacture of components for car interiors, especially lighting, ventilation and heating solutions,” comments Josep Barceló, general director of the company.

The company entered the automotive sector 8 years ago with comprehensive original design projects for car manufacturers. Previously, it was dedicated to the production of electronic boards for all types of industrial companies in the territory, from the medical sector, ventilation or industrial machinery. Today, this business division represents around 40% since 60% comes from projects commissioned by Volkswagen.

With this business model, driven by the electrification of vehicles, the company is recording years of increases in sales. This 2023, it plans to earn 43 million euros, compared to 39 million the previous year, 34 million in 2021 and 27 million in 2020. Barceló assures that the business is profitable and that it registers an ebitda (gross profit) margin. which is between 5 and 10% of total income.

With a staff of 290 people, the company has launched a growth plan that includes doubling current turnover within three years. Elausa hopes to continue leading projects linked to the electrification of vehicles, an industry that is in full swing due to the energy transition. To do this, the company plans to make an investment of 5 million euros in the construction of a production plant, which will be launched in 2026 or 2027. The company plans to carry out this expansion plan with its own resources, without the entry of industrial partners.

Apart from Elausa, the three partners promoted the company Array Plàstics in the 1990s. Based in Fogueroles (Osona), this company specializes in plastic injections for industrial companies, such as Elausa, a regular client.
