“A woman is more faithful to her hairdresser than to her husband.”

What is hair?

Sign of hierarchy, status, distinction, culture, art...

But it falls.

Current medicine can prevent falls.

What if it already fell?

There are excellent implant professionals in Spain.

Hairdresser... since when?

Half a century already. I commemorate four generations: grandmother, mother, daughter and granddaughter.

What goes from one to the other?

What goes from helmet dryers, through permanent ones, to today.

What is today?

Today you have to pretend that you do your hair at home, that you haven't gone to the hairdresser.

And so?

Before, with crepes and hairspray, the woman bragged about having gone to the hairdresser. Today, a woman with well-groomed hair looks cheesy: the idea is, therefore, that the hairdresser's hair is not noticeable.

Now: naturalness prevails.

And the coloring! Today we achieve wonders with color, waves, gradations...

What do you think of gray hair?

On men, white hair is sexy, it confers maturity and personality.

And in women?

I saw Queen Letizia with gray hair and... wow!: that brings closer and humanizes the person.

Will it be fashionable soon?

For women, with tanned or well-made-up skin and red lips, white hair is great! With a pale face... no.

What do your clients ask of you?

“Put me like this,” they tell me, showing me a photo of a famous person, a friend...

And what do you do?

I ask him questions... until I hear this, and that's what I want: “Alberto, what would you do to me?”

And what do you answer then?

I touch his head: the structure of the skull... comes first! And I value his character, his moment... And finally I advise him.

And do they listen to him?

Yes, of course, because the woman is more faithful to her hairdresser than to her husband.

Oh really?

The woman who separates... first comes to her hairdresser to change her hairstyle.

Hairdresser and psychologist at the same time?

I let the woman speak. I neither ask nor advise. But I do accompany my client's sadness and joy.

Do women do their hair for women, after all?

In part it is like that.

That's what you told me here 24 years ago.

Today I'm going to qualify it: women comb their hair to give themselves confidence.

Like the man, it seems to me.

But women don't just come to have their hair done, they also look for facial beauty: makeup, eyelashes, micropigmentation...

What's that?

Pigment dots that hide receding hairline on the forehead or light spots on the crown of the head, or perfect eyebrows, eyes, lips...

On the street, are you looking at hair?

No. The hair looks at me.

How is that?

That sometimes I walk down the street and someone surprises me... And only in that case do I pay attention.

For example?

Queen Nur of Jordan: gave me her full trust. Or Elsa Pataki: lovely. Or Bar Rafaeli: what beauty!

You styled Joan Collins, I think.

I didn't have hair! She wore a wig. I touched up the stripe so it wouldn't be noticeable... And also the shine. And I fitted it well on the nape of the neck and temples.

Any other celebrities?

Claudia Schiffer: she had her own hairdresser, but she finally trusted me. Very french and very elegant. Oh, and Cate Blanchett: what extraordinary skin!

Who would you like to do your hair?

To Jennifer López: I would suggest short French hair.

Who was your teacher?

Alberto Cebado. And, before that, my mother: she was a hairdresser at home. I started breaking up with her. The ladies came, my mother took out the potato omelette from her, her joy...

And his father?

I worked in the subway. Great worker. An example for me! He would visit him when he was already dying and would tell me: “You have work, son, go to work, I'm fine.” That's what he told me... the day before he died.

My father was the same.

That's why I can't stand lazy people.

¿No?

I hate lazy people. I admire my workers who have been washing heads for 35 years: as fundamental as cutting! Professionals without a bad word, aware of trends... It excites me.

What is the future of hairdressing?

It is an art, and its future lies in being manual in this virtual world: its value will grow!

What is beauty?

The expression of the eyes and a beautiful voice.
