A new case of sexist violence, the fourth in just six days in our country, has left a 34-year-old woman in an induced coma and her daughter, four, slightly injured after her partner and father of the minor set the fire with them inside. the house they lived in at the heights of the San Lorenzo Valley, in the municipality of Arona (Tenerife).

The fact that the house is located in an area far from the town and with few neighbors around, prevented other people from being able to quickly come to the aid of the woman who is in serious condition due to smoke inhalation. Close sources indicate that the evolution of the status of women is “favorable.”

The events took place on Wednesday around 8:30 in the morning, according to the Security Councilor of the Arona City Council, Alexis Gómez. As he has indicated, at that time a call was received in Cecoes for a fire notice in a home. The Local Police are the first to arrive at the scene, where they find a large cloud of smoke, and the firefighters and an ambulance are activated due to the expectation that there would be people inside the house.

After finding the woman, with symptoms of asphyxiation, and taking the first statements in the afternoon, the aggressor, a 31-year-old man of Romanian nationality, was located and arrested for an alleged attempted murder.

The minor is in good condition and her maternal family has taken care of her, according to the Arona councilor.

The Arona Violence Against Women Court decided early this afternoon to place the aggressor in preventive detention, with notice and without bail. She is accused of double attempted murder, arson, threats and coercion, according to the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC).

According to the authorities, there were no prior complaints or restraining orders.

So far this year, three women have been murdered in the archipelago by their partners and ex-partners. In the State as a whole, this scourge has resulted in 54 women and two girls being murdered. In addition, there are two injured minors, including the little girl from yesterday.
