A 65-year-old woman of American nationality died this weekend when she fell down a ravine in the area of the Canal de Fabetas, in the municipality of Torla-Ordesa, in the province of Huesca, according to what was reported this Sunday by the Europa Press agency citing official sources.
The Huesca Civil Guard received a notice around 9:40 p.m. this Saturday from the Bujaruelo shelter, indicating that a woman, who was with her husband on a route along the Faja Guasa trail, had separated from him. and it hadn't arrived yet.
The Boltaña Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (GREIM) determined, together with the victim's husband, the possible route that she would have taken. The specialists, first in an official vehicle and then on foot, went to the place, resulting in the unsuccessful search, as reported by the Benemérita.
Early this Sunday, a Civil Guard helicopter based in Benasque joined the search efforts, as well as personnel from the Boltaña GREIM, a guide with a people search dog and the 061 doctor.
The troops have located, at around 12:30 p.m., an article of clothing in the Canal de Fabetas, in the municipality of Torla-Ordesa, to the west of the walls of Mondarruego and, making a lower flight, have located a body in the lower part of the ravine. Upon entering the area, they found the mountaineer's body with injuries incompatible with life.
The GREIM specialists placed the deceased on a stretcher to transport her by helicopter to the Boltaña helipad, where a hearse took her to the Forensic Anatomical Center of Zaragoza for an autopsy to be performed.
