A two-meter shark causes a stir on an Alicante beach

A two-meter shark, of the blue shark species, caused a huge stir yesterday among bathers on a beach on the Orihuela coast, in Alicante. It was an event without personal injury that was repeated in the afternoon in a nearby cove, where the shark ended up dying for unknown reasons.

The appearance of the blue shark on the surface was recorded by individuals and uploaded to social networks, with great repercussions, and in the images it is observed with its characteristic fin out of the water about ten meters from the shore of Aguamarina beach.

Sources from the Local Police and the City Council have reported that the lifeguard services came after a few minutes and that the shark was no longer there, for which reason the beach was not closed, although boats belonging to the security guards patrolled throughout the day. for the vicinity. The same blue shark was seen again in the afternoon, around 6:00 p.m. in a nearby cove, next to the rocks, moving with difficulty and apparently dying.

The sighting of blue sharks is relatively common in this area of the Mediterranean, although not so close to the shore, which is why it is speculated that it got there following a group of fish or due to the unusually high temperature of the surface layer of the sea.
