A red carpet of tributes

Gondolas, flashes and a lot of glamour. The 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival rolled out its red carpet as usual with fears that the absence of many stars would be noted due to the strike of American screenwriters and actors. However, it did not disappoint. Perhaps it was Georgina Rodríguez's stunning red dress with which she reinterpreted the Pretty Woman style, or Milena Smit's black gloved design that evoked Rita Hayworth in Gilda. Without passing up the striking styling of Emma Corrin, with her hair shaved and wearing panties. A journey through today's fashion – and yesterday too – that began on Wednesday, August 30 and has continued until today, Saturday, September 9.

In an initial assessment, the spotlight points to Georgina Rodríguez as the Queen of the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival. The celebrity and star of her own reality show caused a stir with a stunning design signed by Vetements. A draped red dress with a sweetheart neckline, bare shoulders with dropped straps and a very flattering mermaid cut. Rodríguez combined it with long white gloves, so, overall, she was reminiscent of the legendary dress that Julia Roberts wears in the movie Pretty Woman.

The actress and promise of Spanish cinema Milena Smit returned to Venice to remember why, when her name is heard, all eyes turn to her. The interpreter set the bar very high with styling in the purest classic Hollywood style. She did it in a black sweetheart neckline dress with long Gilda-esque gloves from Saint Laurent's pre-fall 2023 collection. Curiously, this dress has generated one of the most curious anecdotes of the festival: three guests coincided with that same model – the Italian businesswoman Cristina Fogazzi, an anonymous young woman and Smit.

The model Eugenia Silva chose Giorgio Armani to ride his vaporetto, along with the Spanish team, and dress in his Italian fashion. In his case, a black dress with a pronounced neckline and an impressive cape of pink feathers with which he did not stop playing and attracting the attention of everyone present. Another Spaniard, Nieves Álvarez, stepped onto the red carpet in a tight white dress, with an asymmetrical skirt and a long tail-shaped flight signed by Pronovias.

Two of the personalities who represent the elegance and glamor of the Venetian Mostra every year are George and Amal Clooney. On this occasion they were not seen on the red carpet, but they were seen at the numerous parties that are being held these days in the Italian city. He, in rigorous black, and she, in a powder pink, lingerie-type dress, with lace and tulle details. A vintage design by John Galliano for Christian Dior.

The young actress and Miu Miu ambassador, Sydney Sweeney landed in Venice to fulfill her relevant advertising commitments. Without ever stepping on the red carpet, she has become one of the leading actresses of this edition. Lady-style dresses with beaded details and lots of tulle from Miu Miu for the day and, when night falls, a black Armani suit with a large red flower as a flag.

Finally, Isabelle Huppert made her grand appearance at the Venice festival with a Hollywood diva look. The new muse and global ambassador of Balenciaga, at 70 years old, attended the premiere of the film Maestro with a design full of silver fringes, long sleeves with shoulder pads and a floor-length skirt.
