The Local Police of Vila-seca (Tarragona) yesterday arrested a man who tried to kill a woman by drowning her on the beach of La Pineda and who has been accused of attempted homicide.
The events occurred around six in the afternoon on Sunday, when the lifeguards and emergency services were activated to rescue the victim, who needed to be resuscitated and, later, transferred to the Hospital de Santa Tecla in Tarragona, where he was discharged hours after.
Although the arrest was made by the local police of the Tarragona municipality, the investigation is being carried out by the Civil Guard, which has confirmed that the attacker and the woman were friends, but rules out an affective-sexual relationship between the two.
Due to this circumstance, this attempted murder will not be addressed as a case of sexist violence. The detainee is in police units and is expected to pass, during today, at the disposal of a Tarragona Court.
