A man arrested after attacking his co-resident in Aranjuez with a hammer

A 72-year-old man has been arrested by the National Police for attempted murder after seriously attacking his roommate with a hammer while he was taking a nap at the Santiago Rusiñol public nursing home, in the municipality of Aranjuez.

The events occurred last Saturday at 3:45 p.m. when the aggressor surprised the victim, a 77-year-old man, violently hitting him with hammers while he was resting. As police sources have informed Europa Press, the attack occurred due to coexistence problems and even the attacker himself acknowledged being "fed up" with his partner.

After what happened, the Summa-112 paramedics arrived at the scene and treated the fellow resident, who had severe head trauma, and then transferred him to the Getafe Hospital. Despite the seriousness of the situation, the victim was evacuated in a stable manner and is currently out of danger.

Finally, the aggressor was arrested by agents of the National Police for attempted murder. In addition, they took as evidence the bloody hammer, which was on the table in the room where the attack occurred. Likewise, they collected testimonies from those responsible for the center and other residents to determine the causes of what happened.
