The collision of two bogies that transport the athletes competing in the World Athletics Championships in Budapest has forced the semifinals of the men's 200 m event to be delayed this Thursday, since the participants were traveling in one of the accident vehicles.
The collision has caused injuries to Jamaican Andrew Hudson, who has presented glass fragments in his right eye, which has not prevented him from participating in the race, although with blurred vision.
A video taken from a drone outside the stadium shows how, in an incomprehensible way, a vehicle hits the one that was transporting the athletes despite the fact that they were traveling at a slow speed and without obstacles in between.
As a result of the crash, a volunteer falls from one of the bogies. Later, the image provided by another camera shows Hudson pressing his fingers to his right eye.
"I can't see out of my right eye, but I'm fine. The doctor took out some glass shards," said the athlete after completing the race and finishing fifth.
The American Noah Lyles, who defends the title and was also traveling in the damaged vehicle, was the winner of the semifinal and is running as the favorite in the final.
