Agents of the National Police have arrested in the Alicante town of Benidorm a man who was subject to a European Arrest Warrant for Extradition issued by the Polish authorities since 2022, for crimes of fraud, falsification of administrative documents, organized theft at gunpoint, kidnapping, illegal detention, hostage taking and sexual assault, among others.

The claimant country issued a European Arrest Warrant that was brought to the attention of Organized Crime Group I of the Judicial Police Brigade of the Alicante Provincial Police Station through the International Fugitives Group of the General Judicial Police Commission, after suspicions were raised. that the fugitive could have settled in the coastal area of ​​the province of Alicante.

Thus, the investigators began the search to locate the accused and found out that he was staying in a tourist apartment in Benidorm, which is why the Judicial Police Investigation Group III of the Benidorm Police Station was requested to collaborate, which deployed a device joint police that concluded with the arrest of the suspect.

The fugitive had fled from Polish justice after being convicted of crimes of fraud, falsification of administrative documents, trafficking of false documents, organized armed robbery, kidnapping, illegal detention and hostage taking, events committed in 2016 and 2017. in the Polish city of Wrocław and for which he was sentenced to a sentence of seven years and six months in prison, of which he has five years and eleven months left to serve.

According to the arrest warrant, the events occurred in March 2017, when, apparently, the arrested person along with another man rented a house intended for vacation use using falsified Italian documentation, which they used as a decoy to re-rent it in this case of a man and a woman who once in the house were gagged and tied with duct tape.

Subsequently, with a weapon that appeared to be a firearm and an ax, they threatened to kill them, demanding a payment of 500,000 Zlotys, equivalent to 115,309 euros, for their release. In addition, they sexually abused the woman. Subsequently, they seized all his belongings, including the vehicle and documentation.

On the other hand, the fugitive was also wanted for other events that occurred in May 2016, when he is accused of defrauding a computer software company, after tricking the president of the board of directors into signing a contract for the acquisition of 1,550 units. of well-known computer software for a total value of 1,334,550 zlotys, equivalent to 307,753 euros.

The detainee, of Polish nationality and 34 years of age, was placed at the disposal of the Investigative Court on duty in the town of Benidorm, awaiting his appearance before the Central Court number ONE of the National Court of Madrid, which will be in charge. to process the European Arrest Warrant.
