Agents of the National Police have arrested a fugitive in Alicante accused of kidnapping and taking hostages. The events that led to the arrest occurred in 2021 in the German city of Hamm.
The defendant - along with three other accomplices who have not been identified - entered a home carrying firearms and a balaclava, forcing access. There they threatened the two people who were inside (a married couple), pointing firearms at their temples, so that they would hand over their valuables.
The assailants made off with 2 gold coins, 10 silver ingots, more than 4,000 euros in cash, a high-end watch valued at more than 20,000 euros and a safe. Furthermore, before leaving the home, they locked them in a closet in the bedroom and, after asking them for gasoline, they threatened to burn the house down.
Once the agents received the European Arrest and Surrender Order, and after expanding the information with the German authorities, police efforts began to locate him.
Although the escapee took many security measures - and had even slightly modified his physical appearance - because he was aware that he was being sought for these events, investigators soon located him in the Alicante area. For this reason, they carried out a device that ended with the location of the fugitive in a cafeteria in a municipality in the province of Alicante.
Likewise, the arrested person had two previous arrests; the first of them in Malaga (in November 2021) due to documentary falsification, and the other in June 2022 in Germany. On this last occasion he resisted three German special forces police officers using force, and under the influence of narcotics, and in the search of his home they located a loaded machine gun and other firearms.
