Maximum concern for the forest fire that started this afternoon in El Perelló (Baix Ebre). The flames burn uncontrollably in an area of about 30 hectares, but the potential forest mass that can be burned is close to 400 hectares, according to estimates by the Generalitat Fire Department. Almost 50 land crews and fifteen aerial means are working at this time. The Perelló City Council, in coordination with Civil Protection, has activated the confinement of the residents of three nearby urbanizations and several isolated houses. Some farmhouses near the area of the fire have been evicted. The huge column of smoke caused by the fire is visible from tens of kilometers around.
The fire started around 12 noon on the Fusté raft and is spreading towards the sea. The origin of the fire is unknown. It is a fire that burns since noon with high intensity in a forest area surrounded by crops. The fact that there is a mosaic landscape can play in favor of the firefighting teams, although the wind, the heat and the force of the flames are complicating the work of the firefighters.
It has already been necessary to preventively confine three urbanizations. They are the urbanizations of Àliga, Racons and Bocatxa, as well as scattered houses in the area. Some isolated farmhouses in the area have also been evicted, as they have just reported to the fire brigade.
The forecast is that land and air resources of the Firefighters will continue to be added progressively and that an advanced command center will be set up in the next few hours to better coordinate the extinction work on the ground. Practically all the efforts of the Fire Brigade in Cataunya are now concentrated in El Perelló.
