A driver spends 14 hours on her overturned vehicle before being rescued by helicopter

The heavy rains that have been recorded these days in San Francisco, California, have caused serious damage in the territory. In Livermore, east of the capital, a woman was rescued Tuesday morning after spending 14 hours on top of her overturned truck and half submerged in a swollen creek.

The driver underestimated the depth of the flow and thought she could cross the stream despite the abundant water that was already circulating. The vehicle, being dragged by the current, overturned and the driver managed to climb onto the underside of the truck and remain there until the emergency services were able to rescue her with the intervention of a helicopter.

The protagonist of this story emerged from the rescue unharmed. In the images that accompany this text, you can see how the driver is armed with a harness to prepare for her lift and rescue from the river.

California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency on Tuesday for San Diego County and Ventura County, which were hit by heavy rain and storm surge that caused flooding.
