A 66-year-old man died this Wednesday when the boat he was sailing in capsized near Coma-ruga beach, in Vendrell (Baix Penedès).
The events occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m. when two sailors left with a four-meter-long boat that, due to rough seas, capsized.
As Salvamento Marítimo explained, members of the Coma-ruga yacht club have alerted that there was a boat down just in front of the port mouth with a person clinging to the bow.
The man was able to be transferred to the coast, although he was in cardiorespiratory arrest. Despite attempts to revive him, he ended up losing his life.
The other crew member was able to reach the coast in good health. The Civil Guard has opened an investigation. In the rescue tasks, the Firefighters and a Maritime Rescue boat and helicopter have participated, helped by the Vendrell Local Police and Civil Protection.
