A 52-year-old mountaineer from Malaga dies in the Sierra Nevada after suffering an accident and falling into the void from about 70 meters in the Tajos de la Virgen, a difficult-to-access area located in the municipality of Dílar, in Granada, well known to hikers. .
It was around 5:15 p.m. this Sunday when Emergency 112 received a call alerting about the event. According to Civil Guard sources, the man had fallen down an icy slope of this 3,000 meter high peak.
Medical personnel and eight specialists from the Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (GREIM) traveled to the scene, mobilized by the complexity of the intervention, and who were in charge of confirming the death of the mountaineer. To evacuate the body, it was necessary to use snow grooming machinery from the Sierra Nevada station.
Once the body had been evacuated, the judicial protocol was activated to clarify the circumstances of the event.
