This Tuesday, the National Police and the Tax Agency seized 7.2 tons of cocaine and arrested four people in Cambre (A Coruña), investigation sources have reported. A police operation against drug trafficking, linked to maritime transport, has concluded in the Espíritu Santo industrial estate, in the A Coruña municipality of Cambre.
The agents accessed an industrial warehouse, belonging to a frozen fish company, and seized 7.2 tons of cocaine, in the largest operation of the year in Galicia and one of the largest caches in the history of the community. In Galician ports such as Vigo and Marín there are usually more cases of receiving or sending cocaine.
The illegal merchandise traveled from a port of origin in South America camouflaged as tuna. Along with the drugs, the National Police and the Tax Agency arrested four people for their relationship with these events, although the operation remains open and statements were taken from more people. The operational agents were also working on site at dawn.
According to the latest crime report from the Ministry of the Interior, the State security forces and bodies have increased their effectiveness against drug trafficking in the province of A Coruña by 8.3% until September. The largest cache confiscated in Spain took place last August in the port of Algeciras. It also arrived in a container and weighed 9.5 tons.
