4 civil guards arrested for making reports about a deceased woman from the Viogén System

The Civil Guard has arrested four agents from the Nules post (Castellón) for possible irregularities committed in the monitoring of a victim of gender violence included in the VioGén System, since apparently they had been issuing reports for months about a woman who He passed away in August 2021.

The woman included in the Comprehensive Monitoring System in cases of Gender Violence (VioGén System) died from causes that are not related to any episode of sexist violence and, apparently, the guards could have falsified the aforementioned monitoring reports.

The arrest of these agents occurred on February 19, 30 months after the death of the victim they were supposed to protect. All of them are on sick leave or in reserve, as indicated by the Government's deputy delegate in the province, Antonia Valls, in response to the media.

Valls has asked that, with this case, "no type of alarm" be created because "unfortunately there are many victims in the VioGén system" and this alleged irregularity of the four agents has been detected precisely by the Civil Guard itself.

Along these lines, he has stated that he does not want to cast "any doubt" in the work of either the armed institute or the Local Police in those municipalities where there is an agreement because "they do a commendable job in protecting these victims and this fact cannot distort all the work that is being done and that has been done very well for a long time.

Valls has stressed that at this time there are, on the one hand, some administrative irregularities that are in the regulatory process in this way and, on the other, the judicial route in the courts of Nules and it will be the corresponding body that specifies the type of crime that has occurred.

He explained that, on the part of the Civil Guard, irregularities were detected due to some alleged references in the VioGén system that corresponded to a woman who had died "some time ago."

The Civil Guard opened proceedings and arrested the four agents, who are not active at the moment: the sergeant is in reserve and the other three officers are on leave, according to the subdelegate, who has stressed that the events are in the hands of the judge who will be the one who finally decides on this case.

Valls has insisted that it was the Civil Guard who detected the signs of the alleged irregularity and carried out "arduous" and "rigorous" work that allowed what happened to be "uncovered", a fact that has been verified this year although "it comes from long ago." In any case, he has emphasized that the woman who was included in the VioGén system died of natural causes unrelated to the reason that led her to be protected from it.
