Alert if they write to tell you that the Netflix subscription has expired: it could be a scam

The Mossos d'Esquadra alert that a scam is circulating again in which they impersonate Netflix to obtain the data of the victims. Scammers send emails to potential victims to inform them that their subscription to the platform has expired. But they add that they can extend it for free for 90 days and make them fill out a form.

The police warn that you should not give out any personal or banking information because otherwise scammers can access your bank account and also save the information obtained to try other SMS fishing scams, also called smishing.

In the message it says in capital letters "We do not withdraw any amount from your account" with the aim of giving greater security to the victims. The Netflix logo and the free offer also appear, as well as an "Extend for free" button where it asks for your credit card information.

The same streaming platform explains on its website that any communication that comes to us on its behalf and that asks us for data should be distrusted: "If you receive an email or SMS in which you are asked to give the email, the telephone number , password, or payment method for your Netflix account, it's probably not from Netflix."
