Yankees fans, rejoice: Here's when YES Network returns to Comcast

Yankees fans with Comcast, save the date.

The YES Network will be back on the cable provider March 31, according to a joint statement the pair released late Tuesday.

That will end a blackout initiated by Comcast that started late 2015 and got ugly at times between both sides.

The Yankees and Braves will play an exhibition game to open Atlanta's new stadium, SunTrust Park, at 7:30 p.m. that day.

The Yankees' Opening Day will come against the Rays at 1:10 p.m. April 2. It's scheduled to appear on the YES Network and ESPN. The first Yankees game not scheduled for YES happens on ESPN on April 16 on Sunday Night Baseball.

There are about 900,000 Comcast subscribers in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

They have been without the YES Network since Nov. 18, 2015 -- meaning they missed all of the 2016 season.

Comcast had blacked out the channel because, it said, YES wanted to charge a subscriber fee it considered extravagant. At one point, the cable giant pegged the hike at 33 percent.

YES also hosts the Brooklyn Nets and the New York FC soccer club.

Randy Levine, the Yankees' president, called the blackout a "typical gutless act by a cable carrier seeking to promote its own self-interest," according to a report from the New York Daily News' Bob Raismann.

The Yankees also enlisted players, including Alex Rodriguez and Dellin Betances, in attack ads against Comcast.
