The ten kilometer Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona 2023 will debut a new route that will pass through the Poble Nou neighborhood for the first time and will exceed 13,500 runners this Sunday in its 24th edition, which will represent an increase of 15% compared to last year .

Previously, there were 12,500 bibs, but last week it was expanded to 13,500 and the places have already run out. The number of women participating has also increased compared to previous years, with 38.6% female participation in total, as confirmed this Wednesday by the organization during the official presentation of the race.

At an event held on Paseo Lluís Companys, the place where the race was presented, David Escudé, Councilor for Sports at Barcelona City Council, commented that: "sold out the numbers is excellent news that indicates that the runners really want to try this new circuit and beat their own personal bests.

The race route will begin in Paseo Picasso, next to Parque de la Ciutadella, and will run through Avenida del Marquès de l'Argentera, Paseo de Colom, Avenida del Paral·lel, Calle Rocafort, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Paseo Sant Joan, Calle Buenaventura Muñoz, Calle de Ávila and Calle Pujades in a circular route of ten kilometers.

More than 300 firefighters will participate in the race dressed in service clothing, which weighs more than 20 kilos, thus accompanying the more than 13,000 participants to complete the race. As is tradition, they will be in charge of taking the first departure at 8:50 am.

For his part, the race's sports director, Roger Roca, commented that with the change of route the organization wanted "the new route to be faster" but maintaining "the essence of previous editions."
