Jonny Otto expelled from Wolves for attacking a teammate and spitting at a coach

Spitting on a coach and attacking a teammate are the reasons why Jonny Otto is currently expelled from Wolverhampton, according to The Athletic. The English newspaper's version contrasts with what the Premier club gave a little more than a week ago, assuring that the footballer had been removed from the first team's dynamics due to "an incident in training."

The digital portal explains that Otto attacked Tawanda Chirewa, a player from the Wolves reserve team, in training at Compton Park. The former Celta player was upset with the youth player for an action that occurred in training prior to the defeat against Arsenal (2-1). Jonny Otto also spat at a member of the coaching staff, who attempted to mediate as a result of the altercation, during the same practice session.

The defender subsequently left the training pitch and entered the locker room where he is alleged to have smashed a television, as well as damaging a table before being sent home. "At this moment he is not available for the next matches. I prefer not to go into details, the club is dealing with it," said Gary O'Neill, coach of the Wolves team, on this issue at a press conference in the first instance.

Wolverhampton sporting director Matt Hobbs spoke to the player and stated that the latter apologized for the incident. Both have outlined a “path forward” to change the attitude of the left-back, according to Hobbs. “We agreed that at least until the end of the January window he will not be part of the first team. He will continue training at the club and can play with the B team to maintain his fitness, if he wishes,” he added.
