Dalvin Cook pens emotional letter thanking Jimbo Fisher, Florida State fan base

Dalvin Cook wants Florida State fans to remember him as “Forever a ‘Nole.”

Cook, in a letter released on Seminoles.com Monday, thanked coach Jimbo Fisher, a slew of school associates and the FSU fan base for leaving an impact on him during his time at the school.

“I hope you think of me in a positive way. I hope I left my stamp on the program. And I hope that you remember me forever,” Cook wrote.

Cook is preparing for the 2017 NFL draft after three seasons of playing running back with the Seminoles. He reiterated his decision to attend FSU was “one of the best decisions I have ever made.”

Cook says his bond with Fisher is a “father-son relationship, a brother relationship and a friend relationship.”

“You taught me to match hard work with talent,” Cook said of Fisher.

“A lot of things you would say would kind of tick a nerve, but it made me think to myself, “I don’t ever want to hear him say that again, so I’m going to do everything right.

“You pushed me and got my best out of me.”

Cook also thanks FSU running backs coach Jay Graham, FSU’s academic staff, its strength and conditioning staff and its sports medicine staff for their contributions.

And also the Florida State fans.

“I said earlier that coming to Florida State was one of the best decisions I ever made, and you proved it,” Cook said. “You’re the best fans in America.

“Years from now, when you think about me, I hope you think about a guy that left a legacy on the program at Florida State. When you pull up my film, or look at the off-the-field things I did, I hope you see a well-grounded guy. A “team” guy that loved the fans, that loved to play in Doak and just wanted to give you all a show.”

Cook declared for the draft after FSU’s win over Michigan in the Orange Bowl in January. He is touted as a first-round pick.
