The Aemet warns of another drop in temperatures and heavy rains in these areas

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts for this Thursday that temperatures will continue to decline (usual for the time of year), locally heavy rainfall in the eastern Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees and very strong gusts of wind in some parts of the country.

Northwest flow is expected to leave cloudy skies with precipitation in the extreme north, generally weak and dispersed, but with greater accumulations in the eastern Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees, especially in Huesca. In Navarra, the yellow warning has been activated for accumulations of up to 40 mm in 12 hours.

In the east of the Balearic Islands, showers are likely, without ruling out the occasional storm, with less probability in the rest of the islands and points on the eastern Catalan coast. In other areas of the northern half there will be intervals of low clouds as well as in the north of the Canary Islands. In the rest of the country, no rain is expected.

After a start to the week marked by high temperatures (anomalous for the time), thermometers will continue to decline in most of the Peninsula and in the archipelagos, although maximum temperatures will increase in the northwest. In addition, frost will occur in the mountain systems of the peninsula, moderate in the Pyrenees and not ruled out in the moors and on the northern plateau.

The snow level in the Pyrenees will be above a thousand meters, dropping in the middle hours to eight hundred meters, with the possibility of accumulating more than ten centimeters in height. In the rest of the mountain systems in the northern half, the levels are expected to be around 1,300 meters.

Starting Friday, a stable and cold environment is expected throughout the country. “A powerful anticyclone will dominate the meteorological panorama in the coming days, with therefore stable weather. This will translate into slightly cloudy skies, in general, and a cold atmosphere in the early morning and early hours of the morning, with frosts in the interior of the northern and eastern halves, more extensive and intense starting this weekend," the spokesperson anticipates. from Aemet, Rubén del Campo.
