The unknowns of the strange death of the 'destape' actress who fell from the balcony

He was only 18 years old. She was five months pregnant. She wanted to have her daughter, she was convinced she was a girl, and start a new life. But Sandra Mozarowsky's dreams were dashed one night in September 1977 when the young woman jumped from the balcony of her home in El Viso, Madrid, and died.

It is a true story and still remembered by film fans and, above all, in the heart magazines of the seventies, because Mozarowsky was one of the stars of the strip cinema, so fashionable at that time.

Borja de la Vega discovered the actress "almost by chance, one day when I was looking for stories about actresses from the seventies and I was shocked by her story, which is tremendous", explains the director in an interview with La Vanguardia in Sitges Festival, where he presented La ultima noche de Sandra M., a film starring Claudia Traisac that tells the story of how the last day of the ill-fated Mozarowsky could have been.

Sandra stays home alone. His parents are gone for the weekend. He receives an editor and a photographer from Semana who do an interview with his graphic report. He then chats with a boy who brings him a package for his father. Inma, an actress and friend, comes to visit and the two talk about their hopes, about the difficulties of a profession in which women are forced to strip to play a role and about the pregnancy of Sandra

The protagonist confesses that she is afraid. He receives other visitors, strange, threatening, but he does not open the door. It seems that the father of your baby is someone very important... “This film, although based on true events, is an exercise in imagination, a tale, but the portrayal of the character is as objective as possible, already that to build it I based myself on the interviews of the real one", emphasizes the director, who with this film also goes into the cinema of the open, which "in general and with some exceptions was very mediocre".

Yesterday was also the turn of Bishal Dutta, an American director of Indian origin who is making his feature film debut with Vive dentro, in competition in the official section of the contest. This young man, who has already been dubbed the new Shyamalan and who has experience in short films, introduces us to the life of Sam, an American Indian teenager who lives in an idyllic area with her parents. His mother reproaches him for not speaking Hindi and rejecting the traditional customs of his country. And it's that Sam is more interested in fitting in at high school and making new friends. But everything changes when an old childhood friend appears as a grieving soul in the school corridors holding a mysterious glass jar that ends up breaking and unleashes an ancient Indian demonic force.

"The origin of the film was born from a ghost story that my grandfather had told me", says Dutta, for whom the central conflict lies in a character who is "between two worlds". For this reason, the filmmaker believes that the ideal genre to condense the problems of adolescence was horror. "I always knew I wanted to make films of this genre. It's a universal language that allows you to tell very personal stories in an honest way." Vive dentro will hit theaters on January 19.
