The tender story of Dog, the lonely dog who builds a robot for company, won over the jury of the Feroz Awards last night. Robot dreams, the film directed by Pablo Berger inspired by a comic book by Sara Varon, won the award for best film in the comedy category. The film also took home the awards for best music and best poster.
It was the most awarded tape in a night in which luck was widely distributed. 20,000 species of bees, by Estibaliz Urresola, was crowned as the best dramatic film of 2023 and achieved recognition for Patricia López Arnaiz as best supporting actress for her portrayal of Aitor's mother, an eight-year-old boy who feels like a girl.
Robot dreams is nominated for the Oscar as best animated film and Juan Antonio Bayona's The Snow Society as best international film. Bayona also had its recognition in Spain last night and won Feroz for best director. In addition, the film that tells the true story of survival in the Andes after a plane crash won the award for best trailer.
David Verdaguer becomes the comedian Eugenio in Saben aquell, the film by David Trueba. Verdaguer speaks like Eugenio, sings like Eugenio, moves like Eugenio... His great acting work did not go unnoticed by the Feroz jury, who awarded him the award for best leading actor.
And Malena Alterio took home the Feroz for best leading actress for her role as a taxi driver to whom life plays a few bad tricks in Antonio Méndez Esparza's Que nadie duerma. La Dani's performance in Te estoy amando locamente helps the protagonist of Alejandro Marin's film to proudly come out of the closet in the Seville of the seventies. Dani was rewarded yesterday with the Feroz for best supporting actor.
The award for best screenplay went to Alejandro Rojas and Juan Sebastián Vasquez, who also direct Upon entry, a film that addresses the drama of immigration between first world countries through a couple, played by Alberto Ammann and Bruna Cusí, a Venezuelan and a woman from Barcelona, who decide to move to the United States and are forced to undergo a tough interrogation at customs.
In the chapter of the series there were neither surprises nor distributions. The Messiah, by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, took it all away. It got the Feroz in the best drama series. The award for the best leading actress for Lola Dueñas. Best actor for Roger Casamajor. Best Supporting Actress for Irene Balmes. Best supporting actor for Albert Pla. And of course, for Javis and Carmen Jiménez and Nacho Vigalondo, the best screenplay.
La mesías left a hole for Poquita fe, by Pepón Montero and Juan Maidagán, which won Feroz the best series in the comedy category in a night that can be used to make the Goyas cross.
