The PSPV denounces that Valencia reduces aid to public universities by almost half

The PSPV denounces a 45% cut in public subsidies that the Valencia City Council gave to the city's two public universities: the Universitat de València and the Universitat Politècnica de València. A snip of 393,400 euros that the socialist municipal group considers "an ideological cut."

Councilor Javier Mateo explains to La Vanguardia that not only have the unions become the "enemy" of the local government led by PP and Vox, but also the public universities have been victims of a local Executive that "distributes subsidies from ideological way." Mateo also censures that the items are not allocated to a specific expense or agreement, which is why he regrets the lack of transparency and the "lack of a city project" by the government team of María José Catalá (PP) and Juanma Bádenas (Vox ).

According to PSPV calculations, if the two universities had aid worth 863,006 euros in this year's budget; In the next accounts, this figure will be reduced to 470,606 euros. The biggest cut will be suffered by the University of Valencia, which will have 338,000 euros less, while the Polytechnic will see the final amount of aid received reduced by 54,000 euros.

This change in criteria in nominative subsidies is not limited to the university environment. As this newspaper already explained, Vox decided to suppress the nominative line that granted 243,000 euros to the unions. A circumstance that has endangered the Employment Pact created by Rita Barberá, since both CCOO and UGT consider that it is an "ideological decision to demonize the role" of the union centers.

In terms of aid, the local government also announced the cancellation of the 75,000 euros of direct aid to Plataforma per la Llengua, Escola Valenciana and Societat Choral el Micalet, which the council considers "Catalanist entities".
