The PP will audit public accounts and European funds and lower personal income tax

Alberto Núñez Feijóo will present today the electoral program that he undertakes to apply if he is elected president of the central government, because he has asked the drafting team that all the measures can be applied. These proposals range from an audit of European funds to the reduction of personal income tax for those who earn less than 40,000 euros, and also to eliminate the tax on large fortunes.

A program that will have a Minister of the Economy - it will be a man - and which, as Feijóo advanced yesterday in an interview on El programa de Ana Rosa, is not political, because he has not had responsibility in any party, but he knows European politics and "when his name is known, Spain will sleep peacefully".

The economic section of the PP program, to which La Vanguardia has had access, aims to "control the deficit and the debt and reduce fiscal pressure", so that "it is not confiscatory" with the aim of easing the burden on families, the self-employed and companies. For this reason, it immediately plans to "correct the effects of inflation in the personal income tax rate, and will reduce the VAT on meat, fish and canned goods, on a temporary basis", as the PP ask the Spanish Government when it lowered the price of some basic products.

This will be accompanied by a "comprehensive reform of the tax system with criteria of effectiveness, equity and sustainability of public services, aimed at protecting savings, investment and promoting job creation".

In addition, it plans to eliminate the tax on large fortunes and leave the wealth tax in the hands of the autonomous communities. Feijóo is also committed to simplifying personal income tax and corporate tax for SMEs, with attention to loss-making companies and those that create employment.

Among the measures included in the popular economic program is the incorporation of the taxpayer's "right to make an error" in the tax system to minimize the consequences of errors that may occur in taxpayers' declarations.

On the other hand, the Popular Party proposes to carry out an audit and evaluation on the management of the funds, to know the true state of execution". In addition, he assures that he will launch the co-governance of these funds with the aim of speeding up their execution and arrival in the real economy.

Sources from the PP explain that the purpose of the economic policy that Feijóo will apply will be to "promote investment", and to do so "the tax regime will be improved for new residents", who will be offered "attractive tax incentives".

The PP team points out that, if they win the elections, they will turn to the General Comptroller of the State to do "a deep review of the real situation of the public accounts", so that there is "sustainable growth" and they will choose to intensify centralized contracting in the Administration to save costs.

Another of the goals of the PP program is to "reindustrialize the economy" by making more appropriate use of the funds, and to do so a "national reindustrialization strategy" and a "strategic plan" will be drawn up that will allow "increasing up to 20% of the GDP the weight of the industry in the economy. For this reason, it is planned to create an office of strategic industrial projects, and a strategy will be promoted over a ten to fifteen year horizon to develop the aerospace and defense sector.

At the same time, Feijóo undertakes to draw up a Spain 2030 automotive plan, to boost the process of progressive decarbonisation and will bet on the implementation of public access recharging infrastructures. It is also committed to seeking a stable electricity price for the industry.
