The PP justifies the agreement with Vox in the Generalitat by not wanting Ximo Puig to agree as in Barcelona

The agreement between PP and Vox to govern the Generalitat Valenciana continues to generate tension, even more so when in other regions such as Extremadura or the Balearic Islands, the rapid agreement between the two formations has not occurred, on the contrary. In this highly disparate regional map, Carlos Mazón's ease in obtaining the support of Vox in exchange for giving them the Presidency of Les Corts Valencianes and a vice-presidency with the powers of Culture and the Departments of Justice and Agriculture is surprising.

In this context of autonomous agreements and non-agreements, the popular Valencians - at the center of the target of the generals campaign - try to justify the agreement with the extreme right despite criticism for its content; especially in matters related to the fight against gender violence, which does not appear in a document that uses the term intrafamily violence. It must be remembered that the agreement was negotiated by the Vox candidate for the Presidency of the Generalitat, Carlos Flores, whom the PP supposedly vetoed to be in the future executive of Mazón; and that he will now be the head of the list for Valencia de Vox.

While yesterday the candidate of the PP in Extremadura, María Guardiola, was forceful after losing the right wing of the Presidency of the Extremadura parliament: "I cannot let those who deny sexist violence into the government", the Valencian PP argued the reason for their pact with Vox. Deputy Miguel Barrachina explained yesterday that of the three parties with which the PP met to achieve the investiture of Carlos Mazón (the candidate who won the 28-M elections with solvency), only one agreed to negotiate. Others, referring to the PSPV and the candidate for reelection, Ximo Puig, "declined the invitation." The acting president did not go to the meeting and sent a delegation that quickly told the PP that he would not abstain.

An attitude that the popular Valencians compared with the one that the PP had last Saturday in the city councils of Barcelona or Victoria, where their support for the socialist candidates allowed them to reach the command rod in these important consistories. A strategy that the leader of the national PP himself, Alberto Nuñez Feijóo, claimed as a "State policy" and that many analysts believe has served the center-right formation to try to remove the thorn of the controversial pact with Vox in the Valencian Community .

Beyond defending the agreement reached, Miguel Barrachina wanted to show himself "enormously concerned about gender violence" while attacking the outgoing Council: "In the Valencian Community with Ximo Puig the number of sexual assaults on Valencian women has doubled in the last legislature. In view of this, he advanced his party's commitment against "gender violence" avoiding laws such as the "only yes is yes" law that has led to the release of rapists and pedophiles from jail or cover-ups of abuse of a girl under guardianship (by the case of Mónica Oltra's ex-husband), he added.

Despite all this, his future government partner in the Valencian Community, in the mouth of his parliamentary spokesperson, Ana Vega, insisted that "gender is an ideological term." Regarding whether gender violence exists or not, Vega limited himself to endorsing Santiago Abascal's position and Vox's 12 measures to combat violence against women and its causes.
