The Pineda de Mar City Council increases the IBI by 25%

The Pineda de Mar City Council (Maresme), with an absolute majority of the PSC chaired by Xavier Amor, has approved the tax ordinances: rates and taxes for the next fiscal year 2024, with votes in favor of the PSC, Pineda en Comú Podem and of the PP, the vote against Junts per Pineda, and the abstention on taxes and the vote against ERC rates. The increase in the IBI of 25% and the garbage rate by 19% is the most notable.

The municipal government's proposal, according to the official statement, with these ordinances and taxes for 2024, is to continue guaranteeing municipal services, and a clear improvement, and updating of public space. As explained by the councilor for finance, Javier Aguirre, “the government's priority is to continue providing a quality offer”, without raising prices for users in services such as educational and leisure services, balancing the economic deficit. caused by accumulated inflation, also due to the COVID pandemic, and later, by Russia's war against Ukraine.

The Pineda City Council has not made any increase in taxes and fees since 2016, and for this next fiscal year of 2024, they declare that the effort asked of the families of the municipality is below that of the surrounding towns, and below the average of Maresme town councils; On the other hand, everyone, without exception, has had to increase IBI, and other rates and taxes to balance municipal finances.

The socialist government justifies, as the finance councilor, Javier Aguirre, has clarified, having made a "judicious proposal" so that services are not affected, while maintaining the economic balance of the municipal budget.
