The demobilization of the sovereignist voter was quite pronounced on May 28, especially for the Republican Left. For this reason, his number two on the list of the Congress of Deputies, former councilor Teresa Jordà, yesterday tried to activate independence, in an event in Vic (Osona), in the face of the "fascist threat".
As Jordà warned, "branchist" parties such as the PSC or Sumar will not stop this threat that they detect; above all, say the republicans, some socialists "without a project for Catalonia".
Jordà recalled that "there are very few days left before the elections and it is an exceptional moment to continue calling for mobilization", because, he said, "at stake" are not only rights and freedoms. "We are playing with language and culture", said the leader, who assured that her training has been self-critical after the May results.
In this way, he appealed to independence supporters who did not vote in the last municipal elections, because they are disillusioned and angry, with the intention of voting and mobilizing on July 23.
The ex-councillor warned of the "threat of absolutely uncomplicated neo-Francoism", especially against a Catalonia that has "the risk of losing everything that characterizes it as a people".
But there were also criticisms for Sumar, whom ERC marks closely in this campaign at the risk of losing votes to Yolanda Díaz. Jordà referred to the "supposed progressive left" which in this campaign has veered "uncomplexedly" to the right. In this sense, he accused Sumar of "questioning" "combatant" feminism and, on the other hand, of "removing the referendum from his ideology". Regarding the PSOE, he stated that "every time it wants to resemble the PP more and more". He reproached the "so-called Catalan but branchist" parties, such as the PSC and Communes, that "they are always on the wrong side of the table" when it comes to defending the Catalans. "It has become evident that the PSC has no project for Catalonia and that the only ones who can defend the Catalans are the Left."
With all these ingredients, Jordà asked the Catalans to vote pro-independence in these elections, because the PP and Vox "know perfectly who their enemies are: the pro-independence left".
The leader admitted that there are many "demobilized and disillusioned" pro-independence voters, but she called on them to make an effort in these elections to "win at the polls". "It is sad that the threat of neo-Francoism is what makes us mobilize. But it is so. We have to do it because we are playing for everything", he stated. "The enemies of ERC are not the pro-independence people. We are very clear about who the enemy is: fascism and the regime of 1978. We will not steal pro-independence votes, obviously we want all pro-independence votes to be accumulated by ERC, but any vote for Junts and the CUP is welcome to deal with fascism ”, finished Jordà.
