The Government assumes that "new pardons" will be needed because there will be "more repression"

The Government's Deputy Minister of Strategy and Communication, Sergi Sabrià, assumed this Thursday that, even if the amnesty law is approved, "new pardons" will be needed, because there will be "more repression" against the independence movement.

In statements to Ser Catalunya, Sabrià has defended the current wording of the amnesty law, rejected by JxCat in last week's vote in Congress, considering that it does not fully protect many prosecuted by the process.

For Sabrià, "to think that there will not be judges who will try to overthrow" the application of the amnesty law is "very naive", which is why Sumar's negotiator, Jaume Asens, "is right" when he says that we will need more pardons. .

"Of course, it is the Spanish State. Therefore, the only solution to all this is to achieve independence. That there will be more repression and, therefore, that at some point we will have to propose new pardons, is evident," he argued.

Sabrià has been convinced that some judges "will continue to invent cases" against the independence movement to avoid the application of the amnesty law in certain cases, so "the repression will continue." Therefore, "the amnesty will go as far as it goes", but "be careful because you don't always have two chances", he has warned.
