The environment of Borràs charges against Castells for its agreement with the PSC in the Diputación de Barcelona

Leaders of Junts per Catalunya close to the president of the party, Laura Borràs, have charged in recent hours against the mayor of Igualada, Marc Castells and against the mayor of Torrelles de Foix and general secretary of Impulsem Penedès, Sergi Vallès. Both attended the municipal elections on May 28 as independents and have distanced themselves from the post-convergent group to support the PSC in the Barcelona Provincial Council in exchange for resources for the municipalities of both regions.

One of the party's vice-presidents, Aurora Madaula, second secretary of the Parliamentary Bureau, has complained that "some people have no scruples or principles, especially when it comes to commitment to the citizens who have voted for them because They presented themselves with pro-independence acronyms". "That only shows that you do not agree with anyone or at any price, and that actions have consequences," adds Madaula, who believes that Castells's defector agreement should "have consequences" even though he is independent.

The deputy Cristina Casol, who is also part of the party's executive and is from the Borràs circle, for her part, has assured that "she feels ashamed of the politicians who, included in the list of a transversal independence movement, have given support to the PSOE in Barcelona Provincial Council for its own interest and not for general interest", alluding to Castells y Vallès. "Unworthy acts and far removed from the collective struggle for the national liberation of Catalonia", she adds.

Other leaders related to Borràs who have not expressed themselves in public point the finger in private at the general secretary of the formation, Jordi Turull, and at his right hand, at the municipal policy secretary, David Saldoni, for the management of the post-electoral pacts. However, they admit that the situation is due to the change in strategy in the post-electoral negotiation, since JxCat had agreed to agreements with the Socialists for the supra-municipal corporations of Lleida, Tarragona and Barcelona, as well as in some significant municipalities where there was finally no entente. .

This change of slope occurred after the Geneva summit to analyze the results of the municipal elections between the leadership of Junts and Esquerra Republicana. JxCat decided after that appointment to prioritize the pacts between independentistas and at that moment the PSC, seeing that it could be left out of the councils, closed a pact with ERC in the two supra-municipal corporations. The one in Barcelona was left on the sidelines, but Jaume Collboni's maneuver in the Catalan capital's City Council to deprive Xavier Trias of the mayor's office derailed any option of an entente. After that, Junts worked on an alternative that did not come to fruition and yesterday the socialist Lluïsa Moret, mayoress of Sant Boi de Llobregat, was elected president of the entity.

Beyond the criticism that the mayor of Igualada receives from the environment of the president of Junts, the personal relationship between Castells and Borràs is good. In fact, the JxCat leader attended the constitution of the city council of the capital of Anoia on June 17.

In any case, Borràs yesterday puffed up his chest for his party's decision at a rally in Manresa. The leader reproached the Republicans for agreeing with the PSC in the Lleida and Tarragona councils. "Those who say that we are not to be trusted have agreed with the PSC in Tarragona and Lleida with an enthusiasm that we would have liked very much to find for a pro-independence majority in the Barcelona Provincial Council," she asserted.

Likewise, Borràs highlighted that they "try to practice coherence with great conviction, even if that means not being in the provincial government and not taking the easy path that some fellow travelers have chosen", an allusion to the two defectors from the post-convergent group of the Barcelona Provincial Council that have joined the PSC and will enter the government of Lluïsa Moret in the supra-municipal corporation.

Now it remains to be seen if the Republicans join the government of the Barcelona Provincial Council, as maintained by sources from various formations, who point out that everything will depend on how the general elections on July 23 go and the reading of the results. .

On the other side of the scale, there are local Junts cadres upset by the loss of institutional power of the formation in the supra-municipal entities for the next four years, especially taking into account the good results of May 28. This discomfort has already been expressed in recent weeks at the time that the configuration of the councils was known.
