The commons design their new roadmap for the Catalan elections

The majority of parties in Catalonia have begun to oil their electoral machinery in view of the regional elections that should be held, at the latest, at the beginning of next year. The PSC is in this, which will hold a congress in mid-March that will elevate Salvador Illa once again to the head of the party, and now the commons, who are beginning to design what will be their political roadmap for the next 10 years and who will lead to an ideological convention that will be held on April 13.

As reported by the formation this Thursday, its intention is to undertake a debate process under the heading “A common future.” The process of internal political debate that will extend during the months of February and March will have 22 meetings throughout the Catalan territory, in which more than 12,000 people are called to participate. The objective is to lay the foundations for your political project with which to “respond to people's daily problems.”

This ideological process begins with sufficient margin before President Aragonès calls the next Catalan elections. Although the president's declared intention is for the elections to be held when they should, at the beginning of 2025, the political situation in the State and Catalonia means that no one can rule out an early election, perhaps for next fall.

In any case, in the commons they assume that the president of the parliamentary group and coordinator of the space, Jéssica Albiach, will repeat as a candidate. But the latest political events, with the alliance with Sumar, Yolanda Díaz's project, and after the break with Podemos, advise an ideological rearmament.

The celebration of this ideological convention takes place, according to the party, "at a stage of certain institutional and political stability", but after having lost the mayoralty of the Barcelona City Council but having achieved a good result in the general elections, where they were the second most voted force in Catalonia, garnering 14.03% of votes and maintaining the seven seats they obtained four years ago.

According to the training, with this process they intend to “deepen the identity of the commons” and, according to the coordinator of the space and deputy in Congress, Candela López, it is a good opportunity to configure “a clear and defined project” in which “Common people be the protagonists of the construction of the Catalonia of the next decade.”

On the way to the political convention, the communes will celebrate several days of debate that will begin this same day in Mataró, which will be followed by other meetings in Badalona, Girona, Mollet, Barcelona, Blanes, Terrassa and Lleida. Already in the month of March, the sessions will be in Sant Cugat del Vallés, El Prat de Llobregat, Vilanova y la Geltrú, Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sabadell, Pineda de Mar, Vic, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Navarcles, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Tarragona, Montgat, Barcelona again and a meeting in the High Pyrenees and Aran.

In this way, the commons aim to prepare the party ideologically and electorally before the European elections on June 9, for which they have already placed Jaume Asens as a candidate and hope to be at the top of Sumar's list, and given the possibility that there will finally be an electoral advance in Catalonia.
