Tense takeover in Manresa with protests against vox and independence discontent

The republican Marc Aloy has been re-elected this Saturday as mayor of Manresa (Barcelona) with the support of ERC, his party, the PSC and Impulsem Manresa - a candidacy backed by the PDECat - in a plenary session with tension due to the protests and attempted aggression against representatives of Vox and shouts of "botifler" against the mayor himself.

After a plenary session that started at 12 noon, Aloy thus consummated her alliance with these two formations to form a government to the detriment of Junts, her partner in the previous term. This decision has not been liked by part of the independence movement, which is why the ANC has called a protest rally.

The ANC has called a protest rally against the pact between the ERC and PSC in this municipality, and dozens of people have gathered at the gates of the consistory with signs with the slogan "Yes to October 1. Fora 155" (Yes to October 1. Outside 155), to censor the ERC alliance with the Socialists.

However, the greatest moments of tension have been experienced with the arrival of Vox representatives at the consistory, including Joan Garriga, spokesman for Vox in Parliament, who has attended the plenary session to support Councilor Inmaculada Cervilla.

The protesters have received Garriga and Cervilla with shouts of "independence" and "fascists get out of the City Hall", where they have had to enter with several members of the local police, forming a small security cordon.

Before entering the plenary room, a man even insulted the representatives of Vox at a short distance and tried to headbutt a person accompanying Garriga, an action that Vox has condemned in a statement.

At the beginning of the plenary session, a group of people -some of them located at the back of the room, although the majority concentrated in the vicinity of the consistory-, have continued with the shouts of "fascists out of the City Council", and both the representative of Vox as councilors of the pro-independence National Front of Catalonia, which is also a far-right formation, they have had to interrupt their speech on several occasions.

The assemblies of ERC, PSC and Impulsem ratified the agreement signed a few days ago to continue "advancing in the transformation of Manresa", Aloy said a few days ago, in the presentation of the agreement with those who will be his government partners in this tripartite.

In the elections on May 28, ERC was the formation with the most votes, with 7 councillors; Together he got 6; the PSC, 4; Women Manresa (CUP), a total of 3; Impulsem Manresa, a total of 2; while the extreme right formations Front Nacional and Vox obtained two and one councilor, respectively.

Aloy, who has promised her position "by legal imperative", has defended a "more prosperous, green, just and feminist" Manresa and a "free and republican" Catalonia, while the Vox representative has promised as a councilor appealing to God and to Spain.
